WORKPLACE BULLYING

KUALA LUMPUR, 22 July 2022: In April 2022, the Malaysian Institute of Human Resource Management’s Vice-President, Mohd Rafizi Rahmad made a statement that workplace bullying has become a serious issue in Malaysia.

The UCSI Poll Research Centre recently released a poll result on the workplace bullying in Malaysia. The poll was conducted among 944 adults in Malaysia.

Among the respondents, 59% had experienced/witnessed some act of bullying in their workplace. The action(s) taken by of those who had experienced/witness the act of bullying in their workplace are as follows. 

The participants were asked if they have encountered any undesirable experience in their workplace, the responses are summarised in the following table.

Over half of the respondents in this poll had experienced/witnessed some acts of bullying in their workplace in the past 6 months. This shows that workplace bullying is a serious issue in Malaysia. However, only less than 40% of those who had experienced/witnessed acts of bullying took some action
