CALLING FOR A CLEARER CAREER PATH FOR E-SPORTS

KUALA LUMPUR, 11 January 2022: The UCSI Poll Research Centre recently released a poll result on e-sports. The poll was conducted among 518 Malaysian who have heard of e-sports.

In the survey, 42.5% of the respondents agree that e-sports should be one of the official sports in Malaysia but 30.3% of the respondents disagree whereas 27.2% of the respondents are neutral.

The survey continues by asking if the respondents agree for themselves or their children to become professional e-sports players. The results show that 69.1% of the respondents say ‘Yes’, and 30.9% of the respondents say ‘No’.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The survey shows that respondents are open to their child or themselves in becoming professional e-sports players (69.1%). However, the respondents have a common concern that it does not have a clear career path. The Ministry of Youths and Sports may play an important role in spearheading and developing a clearer career path for e-sports.
